I am owner and operator of the Liberty Sailing School of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Sailing School established in 1993. We are an American Sailing Association certified sail training facility. My involvement is in all facets of operations, marketing, teaching and course development. In addition, I teach at local community colleges navigation and sailing classes as well as the Pennsylvania State Certified Boating Course.

Boat delivery captain. Auxiliary sail and powerboats up through 120 ft. I have been in command of Bermuda to Chesapeake crossings. Also, I have delivered boats along the east coast from Nova Scotia to Florida including the Intra-coastal Waterway route. In addition, I have served as captain on commercial tour boats in the Philadelphia area.
Certified to teach the American Sailing Association Keelboat, Coastal Cruising, Bareboat Prep Chartering, Cruising Catamaran, Advanced Coastal Cruising, Celestial Navigation as well as the Coastal Piloting Courses. During 1994, I became certified as an “Instructor Evaluator” for the American Sailing Assoc. My responsibilities are to qualify potential instructors to teach the ASA curriculum. Also, Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission certified to teach the Basic Boating and Personal Watercraft Courses.
Member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary since 1980, retired. I have been a certified instructor and had been active in teaching the Sailing and Seamanship Courses. I earned my “Auxop” qualification in 1986 and became “Coxswain” qualified in 1988. During 1989, I was appointed as a “Qualifications Examiner”. The “Auxop” designation is the highest achievement obtainable in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
